In preparation for a Federal Transit Administration Triennial Certification Review, I developed an updated Title VI policy outlining how the NVCOG, particularly with regards to its transit services, is complying with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, which ensures that no person shall be excluded from participation in federal programs on the grounds of race, color, or national origin.

The primary impact of Title VI regulation has been to ensure that transit services are available to all residents through the provision of translations to commonly-spoken languages in the region. During this process, I identified an additional safe harbor language for the Valley region (Polish), and translated notices and brochures to Polish to ensure the local population could adequately use the transit services available to them. I also streamlined the process for interpretation requests during the ride request process.
