The Naugatuck River Greenway (NRG) Economic Impacts Study analyzes potential economic benefits of the completion of the NRG for the towns along its length, using the Farmington Canal Trail as a comparison. NVCOG conducted this study alongside the CCEA and UConn Extension, performing counts, conducting focus groups, and analyzing economic data. The full report is available here.
I assisted primarily with the focus groups, participating in the discussion, taking minutes, and compiling notes into digestible takeaway points. Focus groups were held for trail users, public health officials and advocates, and business owners along the nearly-completed Farmington Canal Trail. Each focus group lasted around two hours, and was held in a community center along the trail. The final points were collected into a Focus Group Report, and incorporated into the Research Methods chapter of the final study report.
I was also responsible for the layout and publishing of the final report. Using the colors and typefaces from the design standards developed from the NRG, I developed a dynamic graphic style across charts, tables, and images, as seen below. Charts were designed in Excel, and final layout was completed in InDesign.
